Treatment and Outcome

  • Purple Tongue: I forgot to add! Tongue is pale and swollen with very mild lavender tone in center.
Day 35

Notes:  I realized that the owner was still giving a yin tonic this whole time (Pet Wellbeing) herbs, so I had her stop this. I thought it might be working against the Chai Hu Jia Gu mu li tang - bringing blood to the kidneys while I was trying to pull it away.
Since doing that, I checked bloodwork on Friday and the liver values have much improved. ALT/ AST is normal and only Alk Phos is slightly elevated.

BUN has come down to 56. Creat is at 6.1 and phosphorus has come down to normal.

His HCT however keeps slowly coming down and is now 22.

On Friday at recheck, the cough was much worse and owners were not sleeping through the night because of his constant coughing. Owner stopped the Doxycycline since it had been 10 days.

On exam, pulse was still bounding/ superficial. I tried to look for active points but it was difficult with the 3 inches of pomeranian hair :). I tried points to see if they would help the pulse: sedate BL 40 (no change), BL 22 + GB 34 (no change). I also tried Sp4 + GV 20 - no change and he became agitated.

I was wondering about BZYQT because when we did the blood draw, all of his vessels blew immediately.

I was still a bit stuck as to his pattern, so I didn't make any changes over the weekend.

Today (Sunday) I got an email from the owner that the cough has stopped! So not sure what happened there.

But now he is trembling and I am a little worried about the decreasing HCT.

I will send an update this week when I know more!
