Treatment and Outcome

Problem Notes
  • Hemoabdomen: Hello-

I wanted to inquire about my own dog, who is battling his third round of cancer. Soft tissue sarcoma in 2017 - located L2 directly on midline, MCT near GB 31 in the spring, and woke up with a suspect (and then confirmed) hemoabdomen 11/29. He collapsed, is lethargic and confirmed hemoabdomen and splenic mass with imaging and sampling.

His pulses are choppy at the surface and mid layer and seem to fluctuate between which side they are weaker on. His tongue is pale, slightly larger than normal and slight white coating.

He is your typical golden-lab x that is sweet and has always had a tendency toward diarrhea (until diet was changed to raw), but his symptoms progressed to chronic weight loss after his first tumor removal in 2017. We have managed well on a raw diet, now supplemented with some gently cooked, and microbiome restorative therapy

I have a few Classical Chinese Pearls bottles of herbs laying around and wondering if in the mean time while I wait for my HSA protocol to arrive if I can consider using: Xaio ChaihuTang (was my top choice), but I also have Buzhong YiQiTang and Cinnamon Pearls (Tabai Tang)

I am on maternity leave and a relief vet so I do not have a home base to bring him in- but ordered the HSA protocol, fresh whole food, have him on YBY, full spectrum hemp oil, ION gut health, and Real Mushrooms 5 defenders, IP6, and Vitamin D right now (it is all I had at home). I am trying to find a way to do high dose Vitamin C at home with him.

I am wondering if you can comment on treating a dog without a splenectomy. He does horrible during anesthesia both at GP and specialty practices, has a horrible recovery, and I am afraid of losing him during that procedure.

Am I crazy for not taking him to surgery? Is there anything additional I can do to support him.

    Thank you so incredibly much!
    ~Lauren
