• Sarcoma Left Cheek: Hi. I would appreciate your thoughts for a 11 year and 10 month chihuahua, F/S with a recurrent grade 1 sarcoma caudal to left eyeball and medial to zygomatic arch. It first appeared Oct 10, 2021 and was diagnosed as sarcoma grade 2. It re-occurred rather suddenly late May, 2026 and surgically removed June 1, 2026. Diagnosis grade 1 sarcoma.
  Within a month I could feel a small regrowth and it is now 3 mms in size.
  History: small delayed fontanel, bilateral luxating patella surgical repair at 1 year of age, OVH at 2 years. She came with pruritis at 12 weeks which has been managed by diet, a lot of rabbit, and standard process products: antronex, canine whole body. Can rotate in various proteins now. Turkey major allergen and beef, duck okay and rabbit still.
  Behavior: has never bitten anyone, will occasionally snap at frenchie mix housemate due to jealousy when too close to owner so some irritability. Cautious with strangers, scared of noises and as she has gotten older doesn't like to travel in vehicle as much.
  Will go under the blankets but not stay as inherently a hot constitution.
  GIT: constipation but once started Natural Path Xiao Chai Hu Tang, that improved. Also psyllium fiber. Had mild collapsing trachea type noise when barking but stable on XCHT for 8 years now. Will get dental tartar. Chewing lamb neck bones controls it.
  Respiratory: reverse sneezes, nasal congestion, and chihuahua hack which was associated with allergies. A recent increase has diminished on vetmedin so also a heart component.
  MS: flies around the house, on green lipped mussel. Jumps up readily but tight psoas compensating for stifle surgeries. Laser and pemf helps. Used to hump her toy and that stopped for the past 4 months. Recently started San Ren Tang for reverse sneeze and nasal congestion which has improved and dog also again humping her toy so spine more comfortable. Some spinal arthritis on x-ray. In the past adding tonifying supplements would aggravate her reverse sneeze (eg seaweeds and nutritional powders).
  CVS: had a dental for a broken tooth Jan 12, 2023. Heart murmur 3/6. Cardiopet proBNP = 1012 Aug 12, 2024: proBNP less than 250. Maintained on XCHT and Standard process cardioplus 1 bid. X-rays taken Feb 19, 2025 showed normal heart size. Echocardiogram August 2025 placed stage B1 with presumptive B2. Medication was optional.
  After consultation with a TCM cardiologist in Dec, 2025, she recommended Heart Qi as well as vetmedin 1.25 1/2 bid. Dog has maintained well of medication. She also suggested XCHT unnecessary and for a short while I removed it, and then restarted it.
  Diet: history of raw food, a lot of rabbit, and intermittent other proteins in rotation, some home-made and rarely freeze dried. Also healthy people food.
  What changed before the growth came back. Started ventimedin and Heart Qi herb as well as briefly stopped XCHT.
  With the sarcoma returning and researching herbs for it, I added modified Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang which also helps support the heart. With the mass slightly increasing in size I am questioning if it is feeding the tumor and Hoxey would be a better choice but the mass had re-occurred before starting mod XFZYT and dog was on Heart Qi and XCHT as herbs.
  TCM diagnosis: kidney jing deficiency, hot consitution with damp symptoms and blood stasis.
  Pulse: toned medium depth, width improved on XFZYT
  tongue: Medium red with some lavender
  Deficient points: BL 20 and 23.
