Osteosarcoma

Signalment

  • Age: 9 years
  • Sex: female spayed
  • Breed: Great Dane
  • Species: dog

Disease Notes

  • Certainty: tentative
  • Comments: June 2015 traumatized tail and needed amputation, was done with spay (8yr old); May 2016 skin growth removed and dental done - clear chest rads; breath was persistently bad after dental; bloated in Fall just prior to Halloween, again chest rads done - clear;
    July 2016 swelling distal radius - radiograph consistent with OSA - no biopsy done
    Small build for a Dane, good weight, good energy and affect - walking fine on affected leg but does not want it touched; tongue red pink - draped and thin; could only assess pulse standing, pulse on the thin side, deeper, a little thrill/tone to it; BL 21, GB 34, ST 40, SP 9, LI 11 - pulse fuller and moderate and no thrill (still standing)
    assessment - fall bloat suggests shao yang/TB issues, steaming bone heat - damp heat/toxic neoplasia;
    pulse not clearly superficial full as would expect for a CHJLGMLT option, but not confident of my pulse interpretation standing or response to acu;
    started XCHT 1 tsp BID with XFZYT 1/2 tsp BID, Qin jiao 1/4 tsp BID, wu wei zi 1/4 tsp BID; hoxsey with boneset 4cc tincture BID, vit a/d 1cc 2x/week, symphytum 30 C SID
  • Final Status: Deceased from this disease on day 28
