Treatment and Outcome

Problem Notes
  • Poor Hoof Balance: Farrier consult scheduled for 9/30
  • Right-sided Back Pain: Resolved after manipulative therapy 9/23
Day -20

Notes:  Met with farrier to discuss hoof balance. Asked him to shorten break-over but only in front of toe callous, and leave side walls and pillars. Did not examine horse, owner reported fewer episodes of lameness.

Day 0

Notes:  Six week history of intermittent RF limping, 2/5. O tried a week of bute, stall rest and limited exercise-- no lasting improvement. PE: sensitivities along right T-L and haunches, left BL 40. +/- sensitivity in TMJ bilateral-- last "float" was 18 months ago. All four hooves 60%+ toe support, RF heavy-WB. Posture excellent-- tends to park. Have scheduled farrier consult for 9/30, and trying to schedule OE as soon as possible.

Manipulation or massage was performed

Day 22

Notes:  Still a bit lame but less so according to owner

Day 78

Notes:  Owner reports mare is completely sound, and she has been riding for six weeks, since end of October. Now doing WTC and jumping.
