- Comments: Sundae is an 8 yr old FS Gordon Setter (not one of my breeding for a change) who after developing an acute episode of vomiting and diarrhea was diagnosed with an intestinal tumor and had a large amount of her upper bowel ressected. No mets were seen at the time of surgery and I believe she had an otherwise clean CT scan. The tumor was classified as a T-cell LSA and given 2-4 month prognosis. The clients didn't want to put her through the CHOP protocol because at best they were told she would get 6 months and they didn't want her to spend what time she had left undergoing chemo. They decided they would like to use a single chemo agent (Lomustine) + prednisone as a sort of rescue protocol that has shown some promise.
- Final Status: much better as of day 229 of treatment

Notes: Sundae's owners decided to only treat with Lomustine initially but bloodwork prior to 3rd dose indicated elevated Liver parameters so treatment was postponed 1 week and additional SAMe's added to support. Within a few days her lameness (believed to be related to the cancer) returned then she quit walking when both hind limbs became involved. At this stage the clients opted to completely discontinue Lomustine and opted to restart Prednisone and start herbal therapies. She responded immediately to the prednisone and at this point is doing well clinically. Will update at next recheck.
Diet is largely canned or kibble
Notes: Thought I should close out this case. Client only used herbs for first bottle and felt it made her go off her food and didn't want to continue. Did surprisingly well on conventional chemo (Lomoustine) and succumbed to severe case of thrush that resulted in osteomyelitis and jaw fracture.
