Question Details
Anal Sac Carcinoma
by Michelle1 - June 7, 2009
Hi Steve,
Just saw a retriever mix for a nutritional consult after removal of an anal sac carcinoma. Have changed the diet to raw diet, added Vit A & D, and am wanting to start him on an herb as well. he has a slightly dusky tongue, quiet dog, no dry skin, does have a small amount of waxy debris in both ears. Not the typical Damp heat that I am used to seeing, doesn't pant at all. Pulses are not deficient-feeling.
There is also a sub-lumbar lymphnode involved. He has elevated SAP, but normal cholesterol.
Would Si Miao San be ideal for this case or Shao Fu Zhu Yu Tang?
Thanks for your help,
Michelle

We've been having good results with Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang, actually. Some people use Hoxsey at the same time with good results as well.

If the dog comes across as Kidney deficient, Shao Fu Zhu Yu Tang can be used, but it's anti-cancer effects aren't as strong as XFZYT, so it would be my first choice.

Good luck!

Steve
