Polyuria And Incontinece In A Pug
by drsusie - July 7, 2009
Hi Steve,
I treated a pug today that recently recovered from a severe respiratory tract infection. She is now PU/PD with some urinary incontinence. Her BUN is slightly elevated with a USG of 1.012. Her tongue is pink and flabby, typical of a pug, has a history of ear infections which have resolved with a switch to a grain free diet and other than that has done fairly well. She has been losing weight. I was thinking that Rehmannia Eight would be the herb of choice for her, but her pulses are very wiry and thin. Her active points were BL 20 and 23, SP 6, PC 6, and ST 25. I started her on San Ren Tang, any other thoughts?
Thanks,
Susie

Hi Susie,

On occasion, Kidney deficiency can pesent with a deep wiry and somewhat weak pulse. Rehmannia Eight is a good choice if you wish to pursue that. You can use both formulas together or see how the San Ren Tang works first. I like your thinking, though. I'm sure you'll see some results,

Steve
