20 month old Japanese Spitz with a one year history of generalized pruritis but most concentrated around the tail base and anus. No 2ndary skin infection or alopecia noted. Currently on a hypoallergenic diet for over 12 weeks, monthly flea/tick meds and nettle which is giving some relief but no resolution. Also pants all the time. PE-WNL, CBC/CHM/T4/blood pressure and chest films all WNL. I'm leaning towards a product that will clear heat at this time. Any suggestions?

For a case with a long-established itch, I think first of Qing Ying Tang (Clear the Nutritive Decoction). It's a safe and regularly effective jumping off point for skin problems and possesses complex immune modulating and antimicrobial activity.

Qing Ying Tang is especially appropriate when you have to press relatively firmly on the femoral artery to feel its maximum beat strength; and when the tongue appears red to dark red or purple.

It works synergistically with Nettles, and would be expected to help where Nettles is helping.

Hope that helps,

Steve
