Hi there,
Hemangiosarcoma is one of the more challenging tumors to manage, but seems to respond well when several 'ingredients' are in place:
1. Something to stop bleeding - Yunnan Bai Yao is fine
2. Something specifically antineoplastic to malignant epithelial cells. Bench studies show that Vaccinium sp. extract (Bilberry extract) is effective against human cell lines, and we extrapolate that it might do the same for animals (dogs). It seems to - we've had animals go for four years post-splenectomy even when mets were evident during the surgery. I believe Mona Boudreaux stocks this, or you can get smaller quantities from Whole Foods or places like that, although it won't be as potent and will thus end up being more expensive.
3. A Blood moving formula. We've used several: Ge Xia Zhu Yu Tang, Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang, Xue Yu Tang
. Many of them share herbs so there is some interchangeability. For this case, with the heat in the liver aspect of the tongue (i.e. the edges), I'd probably choose Ge Xia Zhu Yu Tang or Xue Yu Tang.
4. A herb to activate the above formula. In this case we use Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum). Blood stasis is essentially a lack of a Yang influence inside a solid Yin organ. XCHT mediates the mixing of Yang into Yin, and serves to thus help blow a tumor apart - undo the shrink wrap, so to speak.
So it's a very involved protocol, but it seems to be working okay. Hope it works for you, too.
