Dental Abcess In A Pocket Pet
by JTast - March 9, 2016    View Case Report
Actually a 9 yr old rabbit. Years of dental dx and abcess under jaw and tear duct..No molars able to be removed but no confirmation of osteomyelitis on radiographs (owner declined). Lives on chronic gentocin drops and azithromycin . Have tx with laser for abcess under chin and avoid further dentals. He does very well as long as we recheck cultures and stay on some tx.
Have had good luck with Si Maio San with rabbits will try him soon. But now some GI issues with the antibiotics. Smaller feces ect. This rabbit does not eat hay.... Other than SI maio san suggestions? Great client but we are keeping it simple. Rabbit has strong qi..eats through everything! Thanks. I enjoy these rabbit challenges!

Hi Janet,

My favourite 'simple' solution for chronic jaw infection and abscessation is a western herb known as Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum). You should be able to source it, at the very least online, as a single herb.

To provide an additional edge, try using it with homeopathic Mercurius solubilis (30C strength, given once or twice daily - can be dissolved into a clean water bottle). This will be easy to find at Whole Foods

Between the two, you should get somewhere and lessen the antibiotic dependency
