Please help us with a 13 yo toy poodle (M/N) who was diagnosed in mid aug with a nasal TCC. He was presented for the first time yest as they are seeking other options other than radiation. His face is now starting to swell and he is sneezing (occ. with blood). He is warm to touch over his head (esp on the affected side), he seeks cool places, the sclera (of the near eye) is injected, the ear (of the affected side) is eryth, his appetite is decreased (no change in thirst), his coat is sl dry, he experiences mild-mod separation anxiety, and years ago experienced seizures. His pulse is deep and taut, and his tongue is sl pale-lavender. I should mention that V/D has never been an issue.
My impression (and I may not be correct, please feel free to comment if you want) is that he is experiencing toxic heat because of the Heat signs and the destructive nature of the tumor (more so than Blood stasis and Blood deficiency)
My plan is:
1. no carb diet- we will be cooking as they have very small children and have reservations about raw. (unless you say otherwise).
2. Vit A, D, omega 3's.
3. piroxicam
4. Herbs...would you suggest Hoxsey over Si Miao San? Or do you think that Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang is a better direction?
5. IP6? Given that this is a carcinoma, could it help? Could it be combined with Chinese herbs?
6. acupuncture- I will monitor the pulse but am considering LI 11 and LI 4.
I am obviously still learning. It is wonderful to have this opportunity. Thankyou!
Rita
