Severe Gingival Trauma

Hi Steve, I have a cat I did a dentistry on last week that has developed a severe necrotizing gingivitis of the upper gingiva (buccal aspect) along all premolars and molars. The cause is still open although I suspect equipment malfunction and thermal trauma. Chemical trauma is also a possibility (hypersensitvity to polish?). The cat is very painful and is on clindamycin, torb and coQ10. Is there anything I can add to minimize gingval damage and boost healing? would homeopathic arnica be helpful? the gingiva are very swollen and gray-green. by the way there were no extractions or any injections given. this is a puzzling and sad situation. thanks, Ken

Hi Ken,

Bummer of a case. We use Hoxsey for severe stomatitis. Mona can give you a homeopathic version that might be easier to give.

For severe oral pain, I'd wonder about homeopathic Belladonna over Arnica. I don't know if you're a member of the CAVM list, but if you are, there are homeopaths there that can repertorize the symptoms for you if you don't have those books yourself. I guess my top pick of a remedy might be Hepar Sulph. Lesions are very painful and septic.
