Clinical Signs:
- elevation and separation of the dorsal keratin layer of the rhamphotheca at the distal aspect of the beak. Negative fungal culture. Suspect abnormal beak due to severe liver disease and/or chronic lymphoid leukemia.
-edema of the feet.
Laboratory testing: Over the last 2.5 years, Rosita has had elevated white blood cells with predominantly lymphocytes present. The pathologist has consistently been concerned with lymphoid neoplasia. The bile acids have also been persistently elevated and steadily increasing.
This bird occasionally develops an upper respiratory tract infection which is likely secondary to immunosuppression and responds to antibiotics (enrofloxacin). He is on milk thistle.
Would you recommend anything else to help with the lymphoid leukemia and/or hepatic dysfunction?
