My practice manager has an 11 yr old Bassett Hound that has had a multitude of probs in the past few years. Aspiration pneumonia--3 to 4 episodes, IVDD with laminectomy in lumbar region, splenectomy to remove hematoma, bladder polyps and several UTIs, and arthritis in hind end.
Most recently he developed laryngeal paralysis and was not responding to antibiotics, pred and NSAIDS.
I started him on Xiao Chai Hu Tang 1 mth ago, changed him from Science Diet to a home cooked diet and now he is doing great! No more hoarse cough or difficulty breathing and he no longer needs his metacam for his arthritis.
Very happy with this case especially since it is my practice manager's dog--ever more convincing of the power of TCM!
