Question Details
B Cell Lymphoma In A Dog
by Lewter - March 13, 2019    View Case Report
Sommer has developed bilirubinemia and increased GGt and alk phos with other liver enzymes normal. She has been on Open the liver channels for over 8 months. Could the Buplueurum be having an adverse effect? Is milk thistle a better choice? I actually put her on dandelion to help with bile flow, and also am wondering about Vit D toxicity as she has been getting large doses for her cancer for close to a year. I will do a vitamin D test this week. Any input on the herbs? She's on Open the liver and jia wei xue fu and coriolus extract. She will be getting an ultrasoun=d of the liver soon, but owners are declining a liver biopsy.
Thanks, marge

Hi Marge,

Normally we don't see jaundice with Bupleurum, particularly if you've also been using a Blood tonic at the same time. In fact, normally that formula clears jaundice.

To figure out what formula, if any might be problematic, I use the pulse and its response to acupuncture. If you can get that information, I might be able to help you figure out what to try

Generally, with those enzyme elevations, you have a congestive lesion. In that case, it may be the XFZYT that is problematic. Si Miao San helps clear jaundice and is an acute anti-inflammatory for the liver. You may want to give it a try and stop the XFZYT if the pulse feels slippery or just generally strong
