Hi Corinne,
The last calcinosis cutis case I resolved was on Qing Ying Tang. It can fit the pustules, chronicity of the problem and possible improvement from a Shao Yang approach.
Maybe give it a try? Also, is the dog on supplemental vitamin D? We had one case recently in our own clinic where that was the apparent cause - a too high dose of vitamin D

Could I be drying her out too much with the Si Miao San? Would you recommend continuing it or Xiao Yao San while on Qing Qing Tang? She is definitely a Cushingnoid girl. Came in with elevated liver enzymes, potbelly, and thin side fur. She had done so well for awhile until the CC came up. Wondering if I caused this with my herb choice to begin with. I started her on SMS initially because she was on processed food and appeared to have a lot of Damp Heat. 1.5mth later no big change in signs, so I added Xiao Yao San and that seemed to help. Maybe never needed the SMS and now I've created CC?
As for Vit D, I don't believe she is on any. I did not offer it to her, but that's interesting that high levels of Vit D could cause CC?

Hi Corinne,
If the pulse becomes deep or thready, then SMS may be too drying. But no problem to use it with the QYT if you feel it is a good overall fit for the dog. The case I referenced above probably spent several months on both formulas, so there is no contraindication to using them both together
