I am treating an 11 year old F/S 30# terrier mix that has a 5mm mast cell tumor near the base of her tail. She has a history of ACl repair and spondylosis. She also had an acute renal injury in 2017 of unknown cause. At the time, her ultsasound showed a non functional adrenal mass. O elected no treatment and she has had no symptoms or hypertension. She has been on a homemade diet formulated by Dr Wynn for renal health since. She was taking Rehmannia 8 at that time, but not in the past year. Her renal enzymes, urine specific gravity, and UPC have been normal since spring of 2018.
Owner is worried about herbs and her previous kidney insult. (she is drinking more lately, but BW done this month was normal, Creat 1.4, USG 1.035). Her ultrasound and BP was normal (despite the growing adrenal mass!!!) O still elects benign neglect. He is way more worried about her MCT and renal history. She will come in for SDMA and urine culture later this week. The dog feels totally fine, has energy and great appetite.
Should I stay away from modified XFXYT and just use plain XFZYT? The o is very worried the bupleurum will affect her kidney function.
She is Wood personality with lavender/red tongue and toned pulse, not thready. Thank you very much for your time!
