I first saw him in June and I started him on SMS & CSWLT, raw food, Cephalexin antibiotics, Amacin eye ointment and prednisolone. 13 August, He seemed to have improved and his stools became formed but his skin on the ventrum was still very leathery and instead of being moist became very dried and cracked. His pulse was deep and weak, tongue was pale pink and I was thinking there was an aspect of blood deficiency and the herbal formulas were too draining of damp so I changed his herbal formula to LDEMS and I started him on elimination diet of buffalo and spinach and cauliflower. He gradually improved. The owners ran out of cauliflower for a few days and he only got spinach and buffalo. During this time his skin nearly cleared up with his skin lesions to his axilla and groin much reduced, ears, eyes, muzzle clear, no smell for the first time ever. 2 days after returning cauliflower to his diet, he flared up and is nearly as bad as when I first saw him. He had been on prednisolone EOD for 2-3 weeks with no there medication. I saw him on 11 September. The skin on his ventrum was covered in red hot welts with grey thickened moist central regions. Th leathery grey skin in his groin and axilla had tripled in size. Severe conjunctivitis, severe purulent otitis external, deep purulent furunculosis to elbow pads and skin folds over muzzle and chin. His pulses were deep and weak, tongue pink with thin white coat. I have placed him back on Cephalexin bid for 2 weeks, increased his Pred to sid, started him back on tricin eye ointment and Dermotic ear drops. He is still currently on LDEMS and we have removed cauliflower from his diet. I'm not sure what else to try.

I guess the first thing to do is continue doing what you're doing. Note that LDEMS is still an acute acting anti-inflammatory, in the manner of SMS, so it's not that strong in driving peripheral circulation. If you get this dog cooled off again, and are looking to resolve just a last little bit of lichenification, then consider CSWLT with only as much SMS or LDEMS as needed to eliminate any signs of acute inflammation. CSWLT will help complete healing of the gut and restoring its integrity as well, which sounds like it is a problem given this apparent sensitivity to cauliflower.
Of course, it might just be a coincidence, with the flare up being due to a change in season. Shao Yang disharmony patients often get worse in spring and fall. They generally don't respond great to a shift to a real food diet, though, nor often to antibiotics, so I think you should stick with the anti-Damp approach for a while. I know you were looking for a Blood tonic to resolve the skin issues, and you could achieve that just by adding Dang Gui to Si Miao San. Note, though, that CSWLT tonifies Blood indirectly by supporting the Spleen, even as it helps deliver existing Blood to the skin surface with its aromatic ingredients. So for Blood deficiency in chronic Damp Heat animals, it's a good choice.
Hopefully this advice helps you out. Please let us know how things go. How frustrating to have gotten so far and then to have gone backwards. If the CSWLT heals the gut wall completely, you should be more insulated from future 'backpedaling'
