Atopy In A Dog

Hi Steve and group,

I see a 3 yr old Shepherd X dog w/ late summer itch, and some appreciable psychiatric issues! She is quite noise and touch sensitive, reactive to other dogs, fearful w/ strangers, etc.

I also saw her in August, and her pulse was superficial- middle, strong, mild seborrhea, mild erythema forearms, ears. Itch at that time 7/10 if Cytopoint or Apoquel not used. (and we did use!).

Since I met her last summer, she has taken:

- Xiao Yao san
- CHJLGMLT
- Qing yin tang

The owner thought her overreactive nervous system was a little better, but no change in her allergic symptoms on any herb listed here.

With that small response to CHJ and mainly late summer/fall itch, I was wondering about your XCHT/SWT combo.

??

Thnx,

Cathy L

Hi Cathy,

I agree! What you've presented suggests we should try Xiao Chai Hu Tang, which usually needs simultaneous use of Si Wu Tang to work. So...Chai Hu Si Wu Tang.

Let us know how it goes! It seems a classic case! If there are improvements, redouble efforts to find an ideal diet that minimizes symptom occurrence, then ensure the diet has ample fermentable carbohydrates.
