I wanted help thinking through a case or mine. 12 year old Grayhound MC. Presented in July for dyspnea and excessive panting and lethargy. Problem for the last 6 months. Dry cough and retching, exercise intolerance, and urinary incontinence. Pulses deep and wiry. Tongue was red, purple, and congested. Active GB-34, BL-18, Gv-14. Pulse moderated with XFZYT and XCHT.
Second visit in August. Less coughing, still exercise intolerant. Less retching. Less urinary incontinence. Pants all the time. Soft stools. Pulse less wiry but extremely tubular and hard to compress. Tongue is swollen, pasty coat, red and purple. Bl-40, Bl-18, GB-34 all moderated pulse. Switched to SRT and XFZYT.
Third visit. All symptoms better. No complaints. However, still a deep wiry pulse and a swollen purple tongue with tortuous vessels. Switched to a raw frozen diet. I kept her herbs the same although I am unsure what the tubular pulse and tongue mean (besides stasis and heat). The dog is anxious in the exam room but much improved at home. BL-18 sedation moderated the pulse most. I was wondering if XFZYT would help this stasis enough especially since there is a lot of heat to head and mouth in the way of anxiety and tongue swelling and discoloration.
Thanks,
Kevin Landau
