I am treating a 14 yr old FS Standard Poodle that has a history of urine incontinence since 1 1/2 yrs of age, UTIs for the past year and on recent bladder ultrasound a mass in the bladder that is suspected to be a transitional cell carcinoma.
She also has Cushings dz which is untreated and is stiff and weak in the hindlimbs.
She does have signs of Yang deficiency with the hind limb weakness, incontinence , deafness and lethargy. However, she also has signs of heat with being very thirsty and only drinking out of the toilet, laying on cool floors and near the fan. She also shows signs of blood defic with lots of dreaming where she vocalizes.
On exam she is slightly thin, quiet, hyperkeratosis of nose, mild brown waxy otic debris. Tongue is dark pink and pulse is strong and moderate depth.
So, I read your Manual of Natural Vet Medicine about using Shao Fu Zhu Yu Tang with added Hua Shi. I know this is helpful with Yang deficiency but I feel that she also has a lot of heat signs so was also considering Damp and Toxic Heat protocol of vit A, vit D, low carb diet, DHA, and Hoxsey-like formula.
What do you think?
Thanks!
