Infected Bone Tendon Damage In A Horse
by sbwes - October 7, 2022    View Case Report
Client's gelding had recent surgery to repair torn SDF tendon on RRL, with bony involvement (infected) and subsequent removal of affected bone. Rehab at home, currently on Bute/Omeprazole and Sulfa. Would like to reduce pain and infection with herbs. Is boneset the primary choice here? Any advice is appreciated. Pulses: superficial, strong -- especially on RRL; Tongue: pale pink, moist Thanks, Dr W-C

Hi there!

We've had reports of efficacy of Xian Fang Huo Ming Yin (Angelica and Mastic) in osteomyelitis and osteosarcoma even in horses. Boneset is fine, too, such as in Hoxsey and Boneset. So both are good ideas and can be used together.

Hope that helps!

Steve
