Question Details
Diarrhea In November
by bfellis - November 18, 2022
As the energy of digestion wanes in the late fall/winter, is there an herbal that will help support GI function to help manage all of this non infectious diarrhea we are seeing? Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang comes to mind, but worried to use this with my Shao Yang cases- the ones that are diagnosed and ones that aren’t? If the stool is orange and not formed, does that guide us anywhere? Also if orange stool with some mild biliary vomiting/regurgitation

Hi Brett

I don't know how you feel about homeopathics, but orange stools are a keynote symptom (in my book anyway) for homeopathic Phosphorus. It helps with vomiting, too. I'd try 30C strength two or three times a day. It can be used in tandem with herbs if you want to hedge your bets

Bu Zhong is safe to try in Shao Yang cases. There is a synergy between BZYQT and XCHT. I use them together regularly.

Not only are we in the time of year when the Spleen and Stomach are maximally deficient, but we are also in the time of year when Jue Yin is becoming excess. In other words, this is potentially prime time for Wood Overcontrolling Earth, or Liver Spleen disharmony. The biliary nature to your cases, causing both the orange stool and the bilious vomiting likewise suggests a Liver aspect to things. Based on that, then, I'd wonder about Xiao Yao San (Bupleurum and Dang Gui) for some of these cases. The Kan Essentials Equivalent is Happy Wanderer. If the animals respond to Liver points like LV 3 and BL 18, give it a try.

Lastly, as Yang internalizes and leaves the Tai Yang unguarded, we can see pathogen penetration of the surfaces of the body, which includes the GI. Formulas like Huo Xiang Zheng Qi San (Agastache Combination or Kan's Protect the Middle) are also considerations. If the pulse responds to sedation of BL 40, maybe give it a try

Hope that helps!

Sure does! I will get some 30c phosphorus…what if diarrhea is more cold, no color..homeopathic remedy for that? Or for the hot stinky loose stool? Or do these questions lack substance needed for homeopathy?

The problem with those descriptions is that there are too many remedies that fit those situations. The orange stool is somewhat unique in being (in my view) tightly tied to one remedy
