Question Details
Exertional Rhabdomyolysis
by bfellis - January 20, 2023
How does this condition in horses fit into a TCVM diagnosis? Is this Blood stagnation? What if they are “tying up” and bleeding into the lungs? Is that also Blood stagnation? Just curious if Shao Yang dysharmony is often at the root of these? Any herbs that may help? A lot of people at the track are using Yunnan Bai Yao with some success. I’m working at the track tonight and just trying to put this pathology all together.
Thanks again

Hi Brett,

My last experience with tying up was that we should be using Xiao Huo Luo Dan in tandem with Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang to address the trauma and the bleeding.

If you have the chance to palpate the pulse of an affected horse and see what points (and form of needle stimulation) they respond to, I can see if the above is still a fit

Excellent. Just what I was looking for. I’ll be in touch.
