Sadie is a 2 yr, F/S, border collie. She has had intermittent lameness for ~6 months with development of a remodeling boney lesion on the 1st phalanx of the 4th digit of the right forepaw. Reviewed as "remodeling" by the radiologist, it has remainded unchanged. She is lame usually after playing frisbee. The lameness resolves after several days of rest.
On exam, she was somewhat timid but warmed up to friendly. Her coat was in good condition, not dry. Her pulse is normal strength, but deeper than normal. Her tongue was slightly lavender. The physical exam was otherwise normal except for the firm, smooth swelling associated with bone as previously discribed.
Phycox, a glucosamine, etc., suppliment has been somewhat helpful. The owner is interested in herbal options.
