Chronic Diarrhea In A Dog
Wit is an 11yo MN poodle X with lymphoma. He came up with a nasty inguinal dermatitis and diarrhea in the summer. Initially it was thought to be separate entities but I started him on Si Miao San shortly after my associate tried abx with no response and the diarrhea turned bloody. It slowly all fell apart and I realized he had cutaneous lymphoma which was confirmed on ultrasound in September, along with systemic disease, including moderate to marked circumferential thickening of the descending colon. He was put on Pred, started on IV ozone and Vit C treatments, and I added Hoxsey, Huo Xiang Zheng Qi San, and Yunnan BaiYao. He has slowly lost wt and muscle mass, his BMs have gone back and forth bloody but always loose. He has kept his mom up at night for a few weeks with needing to go out and squat multiple times. The blood has stopped but his CBC last week showed a regenerative anemia and monocytosis but lymphocytes happy and in normal range. His pulses have been narrow, wiry, and choppy. HIs tongue is lavender, moist, normal size with thin edges. I lowered his Pred to 10mg SID and started him on YGJ with the tongue and pulse and anemia, wt loss, voracious appetite. This definitely quelled his appetite, made him less jittery, but seems to have ramped up his tenesmus a bit, making his owner a bit of a wreck as she is not sleeping. I also added on Fenbendazole at the same time as there is much research about LSA and this drug at present. I know we are on a timeline here but I want to make this boy more comfortable as he is truly still fairly well in himself. Still active and appears happy. I know I am likely missing many significant details but I want to get this out to you ASAP!
