Question Details
Gui Zhi Jia Long Gu Mu Li Tang
by sophiek - January 25, 2025
Hi Steve,

I have an 18 year old DSH patient who seems to fit the classic Phase 4 Hyperthyroidism pattern - Kidney Yin and yang Deficiency with Empty Heat and Fire.

In my notes it looks like you recommend Gui Zhi Jia Long Gu Mu Li Tang for this, which unfortunately I can't seem to find in Australia.
Would CHJLGMLT be a suitable alternative? I was concerned the content Da Huang may be too cold and bitter for this kind of patient. Would adding Bai Shao to nourish the Blood or adding DHJST for it's more warming effects be helpful to use in combination with CHJLGMLT?

Or would Er Xian Tang be a better option, which is also recommended?

Thank you for your help!
Sophie

Hi Sophie,

Some of the more advanced cases start to cool off, so I've even used Rehmannia Eight. Er Xian Tang is a good option for the truly blended case. If you think they are mostly Yin deficient, you can see if Yi Guan Jian addresses it. I've used that in many advanced hyperthyroidism cases.

Hopefully one of those makes sense to your case

Steve
