Posting a sad but interesting case. Fingers crossed that I get some progress.
6yr FS Mastiff (looks like she's part Boxer...) with a high gr/Gr 3 MCT on her caudal thigh. Quickly recurred after complete excision with narrow margins despite pred 1mg/kg/d. The incision is not healing and new masses (large, firm, erythematous, inflamed) have developed on the caudal aspect of it. There's also spread to the local lymph node and post-FNA that area now has a large erythematous mass present as well. It's all terrible-looking. Splenic FNA was negative.
T: Purple
P: deep/weak/narrow but toned
I'm putting her on fresh food (was on Purina), XFHMY, antioxidants, marshmallow/milk thistle/albizia/turmeric/licorice, fish oil and Vit D (pending Vit D levels). She's also on Benadryl & gabapentin.
I just submitted this question to Dr Bannink, so I'll see what she says: The oncologist recommended against Palladia due to the non-healing wound. Is this contraindicated? It seems like it won't heal anyway if it's not healing because it's cancer tissue... Owners don't want to pursue Vinblastine, but would pursue Palladia in combination with the above.
Second easy question- any particular antioxidants you recommend or things to look for in antioxidants?
