Question Details
Plasma Cell Pododermatitis
by Michelle1 - October 29, 2009
Hi Steve,

Seeing a 2 year old cat FeLV/FIV negative for swelling of foot pads on two paws, plus a large granulomatous "herniation" of one toe pad in particular. Have changhed her diet to grain-free canned for now, raw honey bandages and prednisolone with doxycycline, but want to use an herb instead long term- would Si Miao San be appropriate for this kitty? Something else? Her tongue is pink and wet, can't really say that it is swollen, pulse feels slippery to me, but I have a harder time with cat pulses unless they are really severe.
Thanks for your input,
Michelle

SMS sounds like a good place to start. Even Hoxsey might be helpful. It works where the problem is acute inflammation, the pulse is peripheral, and their are nodular inflammatory lesions (e.g. like eosinophilic granulomas). So, either one. SMS definitely would be more palatable, though. It's a safe place to start....
