I have another question about herbs potentiating seizure activity. In this case, it is a 10 year old MN vizsla with lymphoma and kidney failure (mentioned in a few other posts!). He also had seizures which were well controlled on Keppra (had hindlimb weakness on KBr) (though if she uses one generic brand he gets "bobble head" seizures, does fine with the other generic brand....).
When he started Rehmannia Eight (Zhi Bai Di Huang), the "bobble head" seizures started 2 days later. The owner stopped the ZBDHT and the minor seizures stopped. I've heard that ZBDHT is fine in the presence of epilepsy, but then I don't know many dogs on Keppra.
This is a kidney deficient dog with pale pink tongue, clear to white coat; and a steady history of a weak pulse, though it seemed a lot fuller and more forceful at the last appointment (hypertesion...?).
Any other options for kidney support that might be more benign for this dog?
Thanks as always!
All the best,
Amy
