So, I have a 7 mth FS Siamese mix kitten that has had cystitis for the past 3 mths. Her symptoms include stranguria, hematuria, pollakiuria, and urinates in both the litterbox and bathroom sink.
Initially she was treated by 2 other doctors in our practice with Clavamox--improved but still had hematuria. Since August she has not responded to meds.
She is a very outgoing and friendly cat and walks confidently around the room exploring. Has a very good appetite and thirst. Still very active and playful. Only other signs owners notice is that she shakes each paw after getting up. Lies in sun and on beds. Urinates 10-12 times per day.
Her pulse is superficial and moderate strength and tongue is dark pink. I recommended switching from dry food to a grain free canned diet and started her on San Ren Tang 3 weeks ago.
She is eating the food well. Still urinating in the sink and less bloody, but past few days stranguria returned. I added on Cantharis and am now thinking I should change her to Si Miao San or would Hydrangea and Eupatorium be a better choice for her. I am concerned with such severe symptoms in a young cat.
Thanks-
Erica
