Question Details
Intermediate Cell Lymphoma
by drangiekrause - November 17, 2009
I have a 6 year old Husky mix that presented for hind end weakness and pu/pd. We found hypercalcemia and diagnosed an intermediate cell lymphoma. The dog seems to be painful and vomits perdiodically and continues with hind end weakness (no ortho abnormalities could be found). It seems he is declining rapidly. The dog was started on prednisone by an oncologist and the owner is considering multidrug therapy. On initial presentation his pulses were weak and deep and tongue was thin, wet with a lavender hue. Would you recommend starting on Hoxsey or Hoxsey like formula?

Thanks for your help!

We had a similar case that responded well to Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum). If you can get something on board that can control the calcium levels, XCHT can significantly help out with the symptoms you describe and potentially also the lymphoma.

That's the first thing I would try. It'll maybe take a week or two to see substantial change. If you do acupuncture, needling GB points like GB 25 and 34 (or even acupressure here) might settle his stomach more quickly.

Good luck, Angie.
