TCC Still Bleeding

Hi Steve,
15 year old S/F dog dx with TCC, on piroxicam from RDVM, added SFZYT and PGZYT, helped for a month or so, but then bleeding resumed. Added Yunnan PaiYao, another brief improvement, now seeing blood droplets again where she is laying. As this progresses, what else can be done to help her?

Hi Michelle,

Even in the cases with multi-year survival, our patients have usually had persistent hematuria, albeit microscopic. So perhaps expecting all blood to vanish is unrealistic.

Having said that, another option is to try to address other causes of bleeding in Chinese medicine. Some of our cases have done well on Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang. In other cases, the bleeding is due to Heat, whether Damp Heat (Si Miao San) or Deficient (Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan). To date it looks like your focus has (logically) been Qi and Blood stasis, so there are other options to pursue.
