Question Details
Si Miao San

Hello,

I got it. I am wondering, b/c of references to it in other forums and posts: is this a common herbal substitute for Metronidazole in many cases?

Also: is there anything it is NOT good for? Wow, it seems like a high-power formula!

Thanks,
Robin Valentine

Hi Robin,

You've found out our dirty little secret. SMS is our pred replacement, but is better, since it doesn't promote the Cushingoid changes, but counters them instead. So any acute inflammatory problem is fair game. It works best when the pulse is quite superficial, without a lot of vessel wall tone (i.e. slippery). The tongue may also be red.

On rare occasion, SMS will aggravate colitis, usually where it is caused by Clostridium. In that event, Huo Xiang Zheng Qi San works well.

Good luck!

Steve,

Wahoo! What a phenomenal secret! I am very excited to hear this and more excited to use it! Of course, there are germaphobes, etc, but I am truly a Pred-o-phobe. sometimes to a fault
