Upward Disturbance Of Wind/phlegm Question

Patient is a 6 year old miniature schnauzer with chronic intermittent seizures. Tongue on presentation was red/yellow with a scant white T.C., his pulse was forceful but thin/wiry.

I started him on Ban Xia Bai Zhu Tian Ma Tang and he has not experienced another seizure in several weeks. His tongue is much more pink and is moist but no TC seen, and his pulse is not as fast or forceful but is still quite wiry.

He is now dribbling urine however with no signs of infection, etc.

Thoughts?

Hi there,

The dribbling urination is not something we usually see with BXBZTMT, so I have to interpret it in light of the seizures. It's suggestive of a Heart Kidney disconnect. That would produce both increased Yang in the head (seizures) and increased Yin in the lower body (incontinence). Formulas that make sense include Sang Piao Xiao San and even Xiao Chai Hu Tang. I'd probably try one of them next.
