New to the herbals, but wanted to give it a try on the case. (Still trying to figure out a way to get to the short course in seattle.) I have a 13.5 year old Italian greyhound that has been seen several times for acute onset neck pain. Radiographs reveal disk narrowing at C4-5 but no obvious disk mineralization/ protrusion. The dog has a typical shy IG personality. The tongue has a lavendar tinge and the pulses feel strong. Compressibility seems WNL and pulses feel symmetrical. However, it is an IG and pulse diagnostics aren't my strongest point! The patient eats home cooked meat balls (with veggies, egg, beef, and rice). His physcial exam revealed trigger points in the cervical region and sensitivity at BL18, 20. He seemed to respond well to his first acupuncture treatment. Any ideas for herbs? during acute stages? long term?
