Question Details
Vomiting Bile
by DWT - March 2, 2010
Hi. I have a 7 yr, m/n Silky Terrier that has a long history of crystals in the bladder, seasonal allergies, vomiting bile, anorexia and diarrhea with mucous and frank blood. He is a happy dog when not ill. His tongue is thin and red and his pulse is deep but full. I am looking for an herb formula that will address this heat, damp heat pattern and also boost his spleen qi. Thanks.

Hi Dennis,

This case seems ideally suited to San Ren Tang. The formula is commonly effective in Silky Terriers, and addresses colitis, vomiting, loss of appetite and crystalluria in dogs with deep full (wiry) pulses. It's one of our favourite skin formulas, too.

If it works well, then I'd look at a grain-free home-cooked diet, if at all possible.

Hope that helps you out,

Steve
