Lung Tumor

Good Morning,
I have just been asked to consult on a 7 yo nixed breed resue dog with a solid nodule in the chest. He has a previously fracture of the distal femur which in radiograph appears to me not as strong a callus as I would like to see. He has lots of bridging spondylosis and a previous splenectomy 3 y ago for a "mass" that was not biopsied. Interestingly, it was several weeks after that surgery before he was able to use the leg normally again, he had severe CP defificts.
So, again, my long winded question, Hoxsey-like formula, can I stat him on it and then add bonest or should I waint since I am not convinced that the lung tumor is a primary tumor like the surgeon. The dog has just had an episode of severe "arthritis" for which he received all the radiographs which ID'ed the lung mass. Is there any signs on the patient I should be looking for that would key in one formula over the other?

Hi Lois,

The biggest distinction to make is whether the dog's Blood is on the inside or the outside. If the pulse is deeper, weaker and/or toned, then you have less peripheral circulation and a tendency toward central congestion. Your goal is to move that congestion peripherally, using formulas like Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang. Occasionally, that dispersal has to go 'downwards' through the Triple Burner. That animal's pulse often also feels toned, but their ears and head might feel generally warm, and their paws cool. In the former circumstance, where XFZYT helps, both ears and paws are generally cool.

Hoxsey is especially helpful for osteosarcoma in situ in the limbs, where there is an increased peripheral blood supply (a so-called slippery pulse) and lots of heat coming off the tumor itself. If you don't have that pulse, or if the tumor is not in that location, then Hoxsey may not be the best choice.
