Question Details
Coughing Dog
by DWT - March 10, 2010
Hello. I recently worked with a 7 yr m/n, Husky cross who is a delightful earth constitution dog. He has a long history of very sensitive GI symptoms with soft stools with mucous, vomits bile, eats grass, wakes between 1-3am, and has recently developed a moist cough predominately at night. He has a dark pink tongue with clear coat, deep, firm pulse and eats duck and rice diet. Any suggestions with herbal formulas for this damp heat fellow would be appreciated.

Hi there,

My first thought as something to dry the airways while resolving their inflammatory problems, while at the same time being appropriate to an Earth constitution and matching a deep toned pulse and dark tongue is San Ren Tang (Three Seeds Decoction). It should also help get rid of his GI symptoms.

Hope that helps,

Steve
