Question Details
Neuropathy In Diabetic And B Vit
by Theresa Knox - March 15, 2010
Does anyone know if B vitamins or any other supplements would benefit a diabetic cat? She has been recently started on insulin, but is not completely controlled yet.
The owner found something on line that said B12 would help. I have used B12 for supporting liver, appetite and detoxifying, but not specifically neuropathy.

Thanks

Hi Theresa,

If the cat has neuropathy with hind end weakness, we've had really reliable results from Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan. In addition, we always change the diet (away from processed and carbohydrate-based foods).

I haven't tried B12.

Diabetes in cats can be incredibly rewarding. Hopefully it's that way for this case.

Any thoughts on the Gymnema and Cornsilk for diabetes in cats?

Hopefully... b/c I just started one on it :) ! (thisone isn't showing a neuropathy though)

Also, I don't know if you have it in Canada or where you are Theresa, but we've been really liking the Prozinc insulin in cats here, until we can get them back to normal glucose levels with diets/supps/environment.

Hi Robin,

G & C is fine to use. No problem there. It just doesn't have the punch to deal with neuropathy all on its own.
