Question Details
Solar Keratitis
by Michelle1 - May 14, 2009
Seeing a dog that has had a history of peeling ulcerations on her nose for over a year- does not get any better in the winter- other vet had her apply topical steroid cream, not effective. She prefers to be outdoors all year round, so could be solar keratitis, no bioppsy has been done yet. The Spleen opens into the nose, doesn't it? I have advised her to get her off her dry kibble diet onto a cooked meat/veggie based diet. She loks like she has damp heat from her swollen dusky tongue and she is slightly overweight. Ideas about the nose specifically? I talked to her about biopsy and niacinamide and Vitamin E.
Thank-you,
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

These can be either excess or deficiency cases. It sounds like you have an excess case, since you're seeing evidence of Damp Heat. The usual suspects can be considered. We especially have found that Hoxsey (+/- Si Miao San) is effective generally. Another option to use concurrently if you do homeopathy is Sulphur 30C. Where symptoms agree, we've used it once daily as needed.

Hope that helps!

Steve
