Cluster Seizures

  • Certainty: confirmed
  • Comments: Every 6 weeks has clusters up to eight seizures, do not last long. Number of clusters in each episode increasing. Severity of each seizure stable. Frequency stable. No improvement when started on Tian Ma Gou Ten Yin with aded Tian Ma. Soft stool prior to each episode. Owner does not want to use any conventional medications. Dog is a Sarloos wolf Dog. Has had food allergy testing and is on a mix of fresh and dry food. Cannot be changed to 100% home made diet because of time contraints. Seen once in clinic because lives 16 hours away. tongue: dark red, lean. no swelling or coat, slight dry, pulse: superficial, wiry and toned. Warm extremities. Dog anxious but manifests as withdrawal, not excessive at all. Current herbal support: BGT 4 gelcap in Am, QYT and LDXGT 2 caps in PM. Weight 47kg. Also on liquid herbs; skullcap, valerian, tumeric, passionflower, and homeopathic remedy which owner has sourced ("neuroplex"). Want to reduce seizures.

Problem Notes
  • Masticatory Muscle Myositis: Presents as swollen muscles around eyes, and redness of his eyes. Improves when acute flare up with Long Dan Xie Gan Tang, one drops ocular red drops, and has not flared up since started Bu gan Tang
  • Scrotal Inflammation: Entire male Sarloos Wolf dog- scrotal inflammation with bright red skin, pustules and crisis, is painful. May improve with Log Dan Xie Gan Tang. Unsure if seasonal- may be worse in warmer weather.
  • Soft Stools: Tends to have soft stools prior to seizure cluster
