by ashleydr - May 20, 2026    View Case Report
Arlo is a 10 year old, deaf, male neutered great dane. He was diagnosed on 3/30/26 with Osetosarcoma of his left rear leg.

He was started on Hoxsey and Boeneset as well as oral vitamin a and d on 4/15. He also receives Bisphosphonate infusions every 28 days to date, he has received two infusions.

He is quite painful as of late and is getting low dose ketamine twice weeky. Other medications and supplements are:
Meloxicam 7.5mg 1 tab SID
Adequan 1 tablet SID
Gabapentin 300 mg 2 cap TID
Mirtazapine 15mg tablets 1-2 tab SID
Berberine 500mg TID

He is fed a home cooked diet, which changes daily based on what he will eat. He has a poor appetite, but is maintaining his weight.

His pulses yesterday, 5/19 were deep and weak and his tongue was lavendar. He is generally a hot dog that pants quite often.

Im wondering what you recommend I do with his herbs. His tumor is growing and is hot to the touch. Should I switch him to a Dang Gui Shao Yao San or Xue Fu Zhu yu tang derivative? Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

Definitely, I would institute the OSA I and OSA II from Natural Path, which you can get from A Time to Heal Herbs. The OSA I can be started at a low dose while you test tolerance but the OSA II should be started at full doses as it is a Blood mover. For sure a Blood mover is needed given the hot localized mass, deep pulses and purplish tongue.

To bolster appetite and reduce tendencies to cachexia, you could use Liu Jun Zi Tang from the same source. LJZT is a fairly specific cachexia antidote and will help reduce anxiety and stress

Hoxsey and Boneset is still a wise thing to use.

If there is a chance to do an amputation, you may want to seize it, if the above doesn't help. Then you can focus on hindering metastasis. Modified XFZYT is fine for that as one of your strategies.

Here's hoping this guy feels better soon!
